Corporate Accountant

We're looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our team! This position is integral to the function of our organization, playing a critical role in our Corporate Accounting team. The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Support the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial information, including credit union financial statements, reports, schedules, reconciliations, verifications, and controls.
  • Play an integral role in quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, including gathering information from senior management and preparing presentations as required.
  • Complete variance analysis, identify key variance sources, translate findings into meaningful insights, and provide recommendations related to financial results.
  • Lead or co-lead departmental and organizational initiatives, including project planning, research, position papers, process changes, data development, valuations, and disclosure support.
  • Coordinate external and internal audit requests, respond to auditor inquiries and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
  • Support corporate tax compliance, tax provision calculations, deferred tax accounting, tax audits, and tax planning initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable tax legislation and reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and data-driven insights using digital tools and technology.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture by sharing knowledge, communicating clearly, supporting team members, and demonstrating IFCU's values of Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.

Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, plus completion of a CPA designation.
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board and the OSFI regulatory environment.
  • Experience using accounting software, data analytics tools, and digital platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, Excel, Outlook, Copilot, Power BI, and Power Query.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, communication adaptability, collaboration, and risk awareness.
  • Ability to support internal controls, regulatory compliance reporting, audit requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
