Accountant (Corporate Accounting & Tax)

Permanent | Full-Time | Onsite | Cornwall, Ontario

What You'll Be Doing

As a key member of the Finance team, you'll support accurate financial reporting while helping ensure corporate tax compliance across multiple entities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end close
  • Preparing and filing direct and indirect tax returns (GST/HST and related filings)
  • Assisting with corporate tax reporting and compliance
  • Supporting internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
  • Monitoring tax filing deadlines and maintaining compliance calendars
  • Working cross-functionally with Finance and other business departments
  • Preparing financial analyses and reports to support business decisions
  • Identifying opportunities to improve and automate accounting and tax processes
  • Supporting special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and accounting procedures

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Exposure to corporate tax, indirect tax, or tax compliance
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement

Nice to Have

Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:

  • CPA designation or CPA candidate
  • Corporate tax reporting
  • Power BI or Tableau
  • SQL
  • ERP systems
  • Manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or energy industry experience
  • Bilingual English/French
