The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund has been supporting burn survivors since 1978, enhancing care at BC’s trauma hospitals, providing emotional support, and strengthening families through resilience and community. The Burn Fund is seeking a strategic and hands-on Communications Manager to lead how their story is told.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice of a deeply respected organization and bring the stories of burn survivors, firefighters, and community partners to life in ways that inspire connection, engagement, and giving. About the Role Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead both the strategy and execution of all communications. From high-level planning to day-to-day delivery.

You’ll ensure every touchpoint - digital, print, media, and in-person - reflects a clear, compelling, and consistent brand. This role also plays a key part in donor engagement and stewardship, helping strengthen relationships and deepen long-term support through thoughtful, personalized communication. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with fundraising and awareness goals Own all communication channels, including website, email, social media, print, and media relations Develop and share impactful stories that highlight the Burn Fund’s work Plan and deliver campaigns supporting events, programs, and key initiatives Strengthen donor engagement through targeted, high-touch communications Act as the primary media contact and proactively build visibility opportunities Ensure consistency, sensitivity, and alignment across all messaging What You Bring 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations (nonprofit experience an asset) Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to inspire action Experience managing multi-channel communications and campaigns Strong understanding of donor or fundraising communications High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate sensitive subject matter with care A collaborative, hands-on approach with strong project management skills Why Join the Burn Fund We offer a flexible, inclusive, and purpose-driven work environment, including: Comprehensive benefits for you and your dependents Laptop, equipment, and cell phone allowance Hybrid flexibility (occasional work from home) Support for training and professional development Generous vacation, personal days, and holiday closure (including Christmas) 12 paid statutory holidays annually
