Why this role exists: The Commercial Analyst conducts and owns key financial analysis and provides actionable insights to support enterprise-focused decision-making. As Officeworks navigates a dynamic retail landscape, this role converts complex data into measurable commercial opportunities. This role is a strategic partner, identifying risks and opportunities to remediate or maximize business outcomes, and driving efficiencies across the Finance function.
Where you will make a difference: In this role you will: Commercial Analysis & Insight Delivery: Support financial analysis and conduct reporting to support enterprise-aligned decision-making and provide actionable insights. Leverage exceptional data modelling skills to convert large, complex data sets into measurable commercial insights to quickly enable the now what. Understand commercial risks and opportunities, providing insightful data that supports build of action plans for internal finance team to remediate risks or maximise opportunities.
Work with data to identify what needs to be measured, how to measure it, and how to report findings effectively with a best practise and automation mindset. Planning & Investment Support: Partner with internal finance team stakeholders in the preparation and delivery of the financial planning cycle, including in-year forecasting and the annual budget. Ensure approved investment outcomes are appropriately monitored and accurately reflected in financial forecasts and plans.
Develop analysis of drivers of revenue and cost in conjunction with month end and statutory reporting. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence: Adopt a continuous improvement approach to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and reporting across the team. Collaborate with internal finance team to deeply understand their needs for insights.
Manage the requirements component of project timelines and deliverables to meet strict deadlines. Who you will be working with: Internal Delivery Teams: Finance Business Partners and other Commercial Analysts. Internal Partners: Members of the Finance team.

CPA / CA qualification is highly valued.
Experience: Proven 4+ years of experience in a similar Commercial finance role. Analytical Capability: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply analytics to solving business problems. Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of accounting standards and their impacts on commercial outcomes.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to drive insights from analysis. Systems: Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and experience with SAP R/3 (including Business Warehouse), Power BI. Preferred: Industry: Experience in the retail industry is highly desirable.
