Mako's Health Club & Swim School is seeking an experienced, motivated and hands‑on Club Manager to lead our growing health club, swim school and wellness facility.

As Club Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of our facility while driving business performance, staff development and member engagement across multiple departments.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Owners, you will be responsible for:
- Leading, mentoring and developing a positive, accountable and high‑performing team.
- Creating an energetic workplace culture focused on customer service, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Managing daily club operations to ensure smooth, efficient and professional service delivery.
- Staff recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management and rostering.
- Achieving membership growth, retention and KPI targets.
- Improving member engagement, satisfaction and overall club experience.
- Monitoring business performance and implementing strategies to drive results.Maintaining exceptional presentation, cleanliness and facility standards.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety, policies and operational procedures.
- Managing administration, reporting and operational systems.
- Working collaboratively with department leaders across Reception, Aquatics, Group Fitness, Kids Club and Café.
- Supporting the continued growth and development of Mako's Health Club & Swim School.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Club Manager, Fitness Manager or Senior Leadership position.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proven experience achieving KPI and business performance targets.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience preparing and managing staff rosters.
- A strong customer service focus with the ability to build lasting member relationships.
- High attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Confidence managing multiple priorities within a busy environment.
- A positive, proactive and solutions‑focused attitude.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working within the fitness industry.
- Experience managing teams and day‑to‑day club operations.
- Knowledge of gym operations and member management systems.
- Understanding of aquatic operations, swim school programs or the aquatic industry.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
Highly Regarded
Applicants with the following experience will be highly regarded:
- Experience working within a 24/7 fitness club or high‑volume membership business.
- Previous experience managing aquatic facilities or swim schools.
- Sales and membership growth experience.
- Budget management and financial reporting.
- Experience using fitness management software and rostering systems.
