We are pleased to share this exciting opportunity to take on a clinical nurse specialist role within the Childrens Haematology and OncologyService, based at Leeds General Infirmary. The successful applicant will jointhe well-established and dynamic team and can develop their clinical expertise& knowledge.

You will manage and support delivery of the boluschemotherapy at home service and take the lead in its service development. Weare looking for a candidate that is seeking a new challenge or to enhance theircareer. Clinical experience within paediatric haematology or oncology,including competency of bolus chemotherapy administration and experience ofservice improvement is preferable.

The successful applicant will work alongsidethe key workers and multi-disciplinary team to provide coordinated, high quality,individualised family centred care to children and teenagers with cancer. Main duties of the job Asthe CNS you will play a pivotal role in the management and care co-ordinationof those children and teenagers eligible to receive bolus chemotherapy closerto home, in conjunction with their key worker, wider multi-disciplinary teamand colleagues across other statutory and voluntary organisations. Inpartnership with the Lead Children & Teenage Cancer Nurse and Shared CarePartners, identify any opportunities that enables bolus chemotherapy to bedelivered closer to home for any child/teenager who meets the criteria.

You will travel across the region to supportchildren/teenagers and their families at home and facilitate their access tolocal services. You will help the provision of education for children/Teenagersand their families and professionals who are supporting them. Job responsibilities TheJobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload.

Thejobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs,the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and thesetting of standards of care. Thejobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to aspecific patient group and will contribute to the development of the specialityservice. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.

Thejob holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole serviceworking. As a role model they willpromote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effectiveand efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staffgroups, patients and families/carers.

Experience Current issues in healthcare Significant and recent relevant experience working as a Band 5 Staff Nurse or equivalent post registration experience within speciality. Audit & Standard setting Chemotherapy competent Experience of clinical audit and standard setting Additional Requirements Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy Ability to travel in between Trust premises and patient homes for posts that involve community visits Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
