CIVIL / PROJECT ENGINEER UTILITIES & POWER INFRASTRUCTURE Location: Dublin Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: โฌ55,000โฌ75,000 DOE Recruitment Partner: Linkedskills Build Your Career on Major Infrastructure Projects Linkedskills is recruiting an experienced Civil / Project Engineer on behalf of an established civil engineering contractor delivering utilities, power distribution and infrastructure projects across Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer who wants more than a routine site-based position. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Agents, Quantity Surveyors, supervisors, subcontractors and clients, supporting projects from initial planning through to successful completion.
The position offers strong exposure to project programming, technical coordination, commercial control, health and safety, quality assurance and client management. The Role The Civil / Project Engineer will support the delivery of civil engineering and utility infrastructure projects, ensuring works are completed safely, correctly, within programme and in accordance with contractual and technical requirements. The successful candidate will provide practical engineering support to site teams while helping to manage project documentation, design coordination, costs, progress reporting and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Review project drawings, designs, specifications and contractual requirements. Assist with the development and maintenance of detailed project programmes using Microsoft Project. Monitor construction progress against agreed programmes and project milestones.
Prepare progress updates, technical reports and project documentation for the Project Manager and client. Identify potential delays, programme risks and critical-path activities. Support the preparation of extension-of-time information and delay records where required.
Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and flag cost variances at an early stage. Assist with identifying variations, additional works and changes to the original project scope. Maintain accurate records to support variation submissions and commercial negotiations.
Prepare, issue and maintain project documentation in accordance with contractual requirements. Provide technical support to Site Agents, supervisors, subcontractors and Quantity Surveyors. Coordinate daily site activities and help resolve technical or construction-related issues.
Assist with setting out, measurements, inspections and verification of completed works where required. Review drawings and identify potential design, coordination or constructability issues. Liaise with clients, consultants, utility providers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
Propose practical engineering solutions to design and site-related challenges. Support the preparation and review of Risk Assessment Method Statements and HSEQ documentation. Carry out site inspections and assist with health and safety, environmental and quality audits.
Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, statutory requirements and industry standards. Assist with project handover documentation, snagging, testing and completion records. Promote high standards of safety, workmanship and professional conduct across all project activities.
Candidate Requirements Previous experience as a Civil Engineer, Site Engineer, Project Engineer or Utilities Engineer. Experience within civil engineering, utilities, power distribution, street lighting or infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and site documentation.
Ability to coordinate contractors, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams. Good knowledge of project programming, reporting and progress monitoring. Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Commercial awareness with an understanding of project costs, variations and scope changes. Experience preparing or reviewing RAMS and other construction safety documentation. Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
Electrical infrastructure experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Competent user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Project. Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider project team. Full clean driving licence. Eligible to work in Ireland.
Desirable Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly valuable: Power distribution infrastructure. Utilities and underground services. Street lighting projects.
Road corridor construction. Civil works associated with electrical installations. Ducting, chambers, cabling routes and infrastructure connections.
Local authority or utility-provider projects. Site inspections, testing and project handover. Salary and Package Salary of โฌ55,000โฌ75,000, depending on experience.
