About the Role We're hiring a Category Manager for a fast-growing D2C consumer brand. This role will own end-to-end category performance including P&L, assortment, vendor partnerships, and growth strategy. Your ability to drive revenue, optimize margins, and scale categories across channels will be critical.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment and wants to build and scale a category like a business. Responsibilities Category Strategy & P&L Ownership Own end-to-end category P&L including revenue, margins, pricing, and profitability levers Define and execute short-term and long-term category growth strategies Assortment & Selection Growth Build and scale assortment across hero, fast-moving, and long-tail SKUs Identify selection gaps and onboard relevant brands and vendors Drive expansion into new subcategories and customer segments Vendor Management & Partnerships Identify, onboard, and manage vendor and brand relationships Negotiate commercials, margins, and annual business plans Build strong partnerships across national, challenger, and private label brands Business Growth & Conversion Optimization Drive GMV growth through pricing, merchandising, and discoverability improvements Collaborate with marketing and product teams to improve traffic, conversion, and repeat rate Optimize search, browse, and on-platform user journeys Operations, Planning & Forecasting Work with supply chain teams on demand planning and inventory availability Improve fill rates, reduce stockouts, and streamline onboarding processes Track category performance and drive data-led decision making Collaboration & Leadership Partner with marketing, finance, product, and operations teams on growth initiatives Lead planning, forecasting, and business reviews with cross-functional stakeholders (For senior candidates) Manage and mentor category team members Qualifications 4โ7 years of experience in Category Management / E-commerce / D2C / Marketplace roles Strong understanding of P&L ownership, pricing, and margin optimization Experience in vendor management, negotiations, and assortment planning Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Hands-on experience with marketplaces (Amazon, Flipkart, or D2C platforms preferred) Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Required Skills Experience in personal care, beauty, FMCG, or consumer brands Experience in scaling categories or launching new segments Familiarity with analytics tools, dashboards, and performance tracking Prior experience in high-growth startup environments
