Job Description

Job Overview The Beacon is LPT’s purpose-built CAMHS inpatient unit for young people aged 13–18 who need specialist support during crisis or complex mental health presentations. Located on the Glenfield Hospital site, it provides a safe, calm, therapeutic environment with ensuite bedrooms, sensory rooms, therapy spaces and landscaped outdoor areas. An on-site school, run by the Children’s Hospital School, ensures education continues during admission.

Responsibilities Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to young people experiencing acute mental health needs, including assessments, care planning, and delivery. Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, teachers and support staff to deliver holistic, person‑centred care. Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, support de‑escalation, respond to risk and uphold safeguarding standards.

Contribute to discharge planning and ensure accurate, timely documentation in line with professional and Trust requirements. Supervise junior staff and students, and engage in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice. Work 24/7 on a rotational basis, including day and night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
