GalwayFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

Lead the bar at one of Galway’s most social, stylish destinations.

At HYDE Galway, the bar is more than a hotel outlet - it’s a destination in its own right. A vibrant space in the heart of Galway city that blends energy, atmosphere and personality to create a venue where locals and visitors come together for cocktails, celebrations, and unforgettable nights out.

We’re now looking for an exceptional Bar Manager to lead the next chapter of our bar experience - someone with presence, personality and the ability to create a room people want to return to again and again.

Think: high-energy weekends, stylish cocktails, a buzzing late-night crowd, curated music, warm service and a team that genuinely loves hospitality. Your role is to make sure every shift feels seamless, every guest feels welcomed, and every night delivers the kind of atmosphere people talk about long after they leave.

The Opportunity

This role is for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment and wants to make a genuine impact. You will:

  • Lead one of Galway’s most recognisable hotel bar operations, helping shape its reputation as a must-visit city venue.

  • Build and inspire a high-performing bar team that delivers exceptional service with personality and confidence.

  • Work closely with senior management to evolve the drinks offering, guest experience and commercial performance of the venue.

  • Create an atmosphere that feels energetic, stylish and effortlessly welcoming from early evening through late night.

If you love busy rooms, strong teams and creating memorable guest experiences, this is your stage.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Bar Manager, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the bar, ensuring smooth, efficient and guest-focused service at all times.

  • Drive an exceptional drinks experience across cocktails, wines, beers, spirits and non-alcoholic offerings.

  • Train and develop a passionate bar team, creating a culture built on standards, energy and accountability.

  • Be highly visible on the bar - leading by example, supporting the team during peak service and maintaining a strong presence with guests.

  • Work closely with the kitchen and wider hotel team to ensure seamless service and communication across all departments.

  • Shape the atmosphere of the venue through music, lighting, pacing and attention to detail.

  • Deliver excellent stock management, ordering procedures, GP control and wastage management.

  • Maximise revenue opportunities through upselling, premium service and strong product knowledge.

  • Take ownership of compliance, licensing regulations, health & safety procedures, cash handling and operational standards.

  • Monitor guest feedback, online reviews and business performance metrics to continuously improve the experience.

  • Support the planning and execution of events, entertainment and promotional activity that strengthens the venue’s profile within Galway’s hospitality scene.

Who You Are

You’ll fit this role if you are:

  • A charismatic host who knows how to create atmosphere and make guests feel genuinely welcome.

  • Passionate about cocktail culture, modern hospitality trends and delivering memorable experiences.

  • Experienced in managing busy, high-volume bar operations with strong service standards.

  • A hands-on leader who motivates through presence, positivity and professionalism.

  • Calm and confident under pressure - able to lead a packed bar while maintaining standards and team morale.

  • Commercially aware, with a solid understanding of stock control, labour management, margins and revenue performance.

  • Highly organised, detail-focused and committed to operational excellence.

  • An excellent communicator who enjoys collaborating with teams across the wider hotel operation.

  • Excited by the opportunity to help shape and elevate one of Galway’s most dynamic hospitality venues.

Experience & Requirements

  • Proven experience as Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager or senior supervisory role within a busy, quality-focused venue.

  • Strong background in cocktails, beverage service and high-volume operations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, training and developing hospitality teams.

  • Excellent understanding of guest service standards and floor management.

  • Experience with stock control, ordering systems, rota planning and cost management.

  • Knowledge of licensing laws, health & safety and food hygiene standards.

What You’ll Get

  • The opportunity to lead the bar experience in one of Galway’s most stylish and energetic hotel venues.

  • Competitive salary and performance-related incentives.

  • Creative input into drinks, service style, events and guest experience.

  • A supportive leadership team and strong workplace culture.

  • Genuine opportunities for career growth within a progressive hospitality environment.

  • The chance to build your reputation in one of Ireland’s most exciting hospitality cities.
