Assistant Maintenance Manager (Renton)

We’re hiring an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support a small portfolio of apartment communities in Renton, WA. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the field, leading by example, and making sure work is done right the first time. If you’re a strong maintenance professional who also knows how to manage people, keep crews productive, and take ownership, this is an excellent long-term opportunity with a stable operation and a respectful, safety-first culture. ✅ 3+ years of hands-on apartment, facilities, or trades maintenance experience Prior crew leadership or supervisory experience (required) Basic electrical (switches, outlets, heaters) Drywall, painting, and basic carpentry Ability to manage and motivate a team of 6–7 technicians Leadership matters more than being perfect at every trade — technical skills can be trained, people management cannot.

This is a working Assistant Maintenance Manager role, roughly 50% hands-on / 50% leadership. Perform and oversee repairs including plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, flooring, appliances, and water heaters Supervise daily maintenance operations and assign work Inspect completed work for quality and accountability Respond to service requests and maintenance emergencies Manage preventive maintenance to reduce costly repairs Support unit turns and ongoing property upkeep Communicate clearly with residents regarding repairs and timelines Determine when repairs can be handled in-house vs. Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid holidays Be trusted to run a crew and make decisions Grow into a higher-level maintenance leadership role over time
