The Opportunity

We are looking for a capable, hands-on Accountant to own the day-to-day finance cycle for our Kochi office, reporting directly to the Finance Manager in Sydney. This is a broad role that spans both operational finance and reporting — you will prepare customer billing, manage receivables, keep month-end clean, review the bookkeeping, and produce the commission, management, and dashboard reporting the business runs on.

You will own your deliverables end-to-end and be trusted to get the numbers right with limited supervision. This is not a narrow processing seat — accuracy, judgement, and reliable reporting are what the role is measured on.

What You'll Do

Operational Finance

• Sales invoice preparation — prepare the monthly customer billing — reconcile store/site counts and SMS usage against each contract, capture new customers and pricing changes, and confirm every customer is invoiced the correct amount, on time, each billing cycle
• Accounts Receivable — manage the AR ledger; follow up on overdue accounts, drive collections, and keep Debtor Days within target
• Client inquiries — respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries on invoices, statements, and account queries
• Customer contract preparation & maintenance — prepare customer agreements from approved templates, keep the contract tracker current, and submit prepared contracts to the Finance Manager for approval
• Month-end journals & reconciliations — prepare and post month-end adjusting journal entries and supporting reconciliations so the books are accurate and close-ready across both trading entities
• Leave reconciliations — maintain and reconcile group-wide leave balances in Employment Hero
• Review of bookkeeping — review the bookkeeper's work — bank and credit-card reconciliations, supplier bill coding, and inter-company reconciliation — for accuracy, and flag or correct issues before month-end

Reporting & Analysis

• Commission & bonus reporting — reconcile and prepare the monthly/quarterly sales commissions and CSM KPI bonuses
• Management reporting — produce the weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and quarterly management reports accurately and on schedule
• Dashboard & template development — maintain the bespoke reporting workbooks and dashboards the team relies on — and improve them over time

What We're Looking For

Must Have

• 3+ years of commercial accounting experience — billing/invoicing, AR, month-end journals & reconciliations, and reporting (not audit, not tax)
• Strong, practical Excel — you can build and maintain reports, reconciliations, and commission workbooks from scratch using pivot tables, lookups (VLOOKUP / INDEX-MATCH) and formulas; not just filling in existing templates
• Able to work independently and accurately with limited supervision — you own your deliverables end-to-end and get the numbers right the first time
• Highly organised and deadline-driven — reliably manages recurring weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycles
• Xero experience is desirable; experience with any cloud accounting system (QBO, MYOB, Sage, etc.) is acceptable — you must be able to pick up Xero quickly
• Clear written English for daily communication with the Sydney team
• Available from 8:00 IST to ensure overlap with Sydney
• Based in Kochi / Ernakulam, or committed to relocating

Strong Advantage

• Experience preparing commission/bonus reporting or management reports
• Experience in a SaaS or tech company
• Power BI or other dashboarding tools (development, not just viewing)
• Familiarity with Planhat, Employment Hero, or similar platforms
• CA / CMA / ACCA (part-qualified or completed)
• Comfortable using AI tools to work more efficiently
