What You’ll Do

Project & Development Accounting

  • Maintain accurate job cost accounting across development and construction projects, ensuring costs are correctly allocated by project, stage, cost code and entity
  • Monitor project budgets versus actuals and assist with cost-to-complete and cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations (WIP, creditors, retention, GST, intercompany)
  • Support preparation of monthly management reports, project financial reports and development summaries
  • Assist with statutory reporting requirements, including GST/BAS and audit support
  • Liaise with external accountants for the end of financial year reports and IAS returns

Project Costing & A/P Support

  • Process subcontractor, supplier and consultant invoices in Procore, Jobpac and MYOB/Xero, ensuring correct entity, job, cost code and approval workflow
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Contract Administrators and suppliers to resolve invoice queries, missing documentation or coding issues
  • Monitor invoice approval status in Procore and follow up to ensure invoices are approved and paid on time
  • Process urgent and ad hoc payments in line with approved procedures

Systems & Administration

  • Assist with credit applications, document filing and digital record management
  • Support continuous improvement of accounts processes and workflows
  • Maintain the integrity of data across MYOB, Xero, Procore, Jobpac and other platforms, resolving sync or integration issues
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Finance Manager with accounts, reporting preparation, banking and project cost reviews
  • Work collaboratively with the wider finance and project teams to support smooth financial operations

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years’ experience in an accounting or assistant accountant role, ideally within construction, property development or project-based environments
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, accrual accounting and project financial controls
  • Experience using Jobpac (highly desirable)
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Confident communicator able to work closely with Project Managers, Contract Administrators and external stakeholders
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CA/CPA (or working towards) desirable
