About Golden Treehouse Interactive
Golden Treehouse Interactive is an independent game studio in São Paulo developing its first title. The project is ambitious: we are making a game meant to stand alongside the best in its genre, and we take the craft required to get there seriously. We are a small remote team where your work is visible, feedback is honest and respectful, and good ideas are heard regardless of origin.
If you are someone who does careful, thoughtful work and has been waiting for a project worth pouring that into, we would like to meet you.
The job
We are looking for a 3D Artist to help define and build the visual world of our first game. You will work directly with the Art Director and closely with programming and design to create characters, props, and environments that hold up to a high craft standard.
This is an early-stage role on a small team. You will have real influence on how our art pipeline takes shape, and you will see your work in-engine quickly.
What you will do
- Model, UV, and texture stylized characters, props, and environment assets for a 2.5D platformer in Unity.
- Translate 2D concept art into game-ready 3D assets that preserve the intent, silhouette, and appeal of the concept.
- Collaborate with the Art Director on look development and with programmers and tech art on shaders, materials, and lighting.
- Build assets that work well with dynamic lighting and weather states, keeping readability and performance in mind.
- Help establish and document asset pipelines, naming conventions, and technical standards as the team grows.
- Iterate quickly: block out, review in-engine, refine.
What we are looking for
- Professional experience creating stylized 3D assets for games (portfolio required).
- Strong fundamentals: form, silhouette, proportion, color, and appeal.
- Proficiency in Blender or Maya, and in Substance Painter or an equivalent texturing workflow.
- Experience delivering game-ready assets in Unity (import, materials, LODs, optimization basics).
- Comfort working from concept art and art direction feedback, and giving and receiving critique constructively.
- Clear communication in Portuguese; working proficiency in English (documentation and references are often in English).
- Based in Brazil and able to work remotely with regular overlap with São Paulo business hours.
- Passion for craft and story telling
- Genuine interest in what makes games feel good to look at and to play, and the curiosity to study it
Nice to have
- Experience across the character pipeline, including deformation-friendly topology, rigging and skinning, and enough animation familiarity to build assets that move well.
- Familiarity with Unity's URP, Shader Graph, or stylized/NPR rendering techniques.
- Environment art experience is especially welcome.
- Shipped titles or released personal projects.
How we work
- Small team, direct communication, fast feedback loops.
- Structured hiring: portfolio review, conversation with the Art Director and Creative Director, and a paid art test for finalists.
- Remote-first, with the studio's core based in São Paulo.
- We hold work to the standard of the best games in the genre, and we say so in reviews. Feedback is direct and specific.
