Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Intensive Home Treatment Team (IHTT) based within the new Royal Edinburgh Building at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. Working in both outpatient and community settings with adults experiencing acute episodes of mental ill-health, you will deliver brief focused occupational therapy assessment and intervention, aimed at facilitating effective early discharges and preventing hospital admission. Working within a well‑established multidisciplinary team, you will have opportunities to develop your skills in clinical decision‑making, risk management, and prioritising needs.
Occupational Therapy leadership is embedded in the team, providing ongoing profession‑specific support to enable you to deliver a high‑quality and person‑centred occupational therapy service. Primary Responsibilities Conduct occupational therapy assessments and design brief interventions to facilitate early discharge and prevent hospital admission. Work within the multidisciplinary IHTT to coordinate care in outpatient and community settings.
Collaborate with mental health professionals to support safe, effective treatment plans and risk management. Provide ongoing supervision of junior staff and contribute to quality improvement and innovative practice. Key Requirements Band 6 Occupational Therapist or equivalent experience within mental health services.
Excellent communication, decision‑making and collaborative skills in multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy, fast‑paced environment. Strong motivation to advocate occupational therapy in supporting recovery journeys.
Valid PVG Scheme membership/record for the relevant regulatory group (child and/or adult). Valid right to work in the United Kingdom as required by UK visa and immigration services. Employment Details The successful applicant will usually work one evening per week and one weekend per month.
The role is part‑time with a corresponding pro‑rata salary and hourly rate adjustments in line with the Agenda for Change schedule from 1 April 2026. #J-18808-Ljbffr
