Job Background & Summary We at Actalent Services are a fast-growing engineering consulting group which expanded to Canada in 2014. A significant part of that growth has come out of our Western Canadian Operations focused on Infrastructure and Utilities projects. To support this growth, we have opened a full-time position for an Electrical Engineer (Distribution Engineer - Intermediate or Senior level) to join our team on a full-time basis.

The selected individual will be a part of our Utilities Division based out of New Westminster, BC. Key activities include liaising with project stakeholders, completing project designs / design, performing quality assurance and design review functions, as well as being POR on projects. The selected individual will join our rapidly growing team delivering projects to a variety of utility clients with a focus on electrical utility infrastructure.

We are looking for people that take ownership, are career motivated, well organized and detail oriented with a proven ability to meet deadlines. This role required Drug and Alcohol screening as a pre-employment requirement. The New Westminster operation is currently on a Hybrid working Model.

Job Requirements Degree in Engineering from a Canadian accredited university or equivalent. Current P.Eng. with a Canadian Engineering Association A minimum of six (6) years work experience in electrical engineering and/or power systems engineering A minimum of four (4) years in underground (UG) and/or overhead (OH) electrical design experience on BC Hydro and/or other North American electric utility’s projects. A minimum of one (1) year of design and/or design review experience on BC Hydro Distribution Projects.

A valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or equivalent from another Canadian Province) Strong oral and written communication skills Proficient using MS Office and AutoCAD software Considered an asset Experience with PLS-CADD Job Responsibilities Design underground and overhead electrical infrastructure according to client and national standards and requirements. Use SPIDAcalc non-linear pole line/PLS-CADD analysis tool to evaluate pole design and create non-standard OH Line design solutions. Use of underground cable pulling calculation software to confirm design solutions.

Use load balancing and fuse coordination software for distribution system improvement projects. Fulfill POR responsibilities for any non-standard/engineered solutions. Adhere to EGBC Bylaws, including the requirements for Continuing Education and Quality Management Guidelines.

Prepare design packages for review and submission. Packages to be provided for Pole Replacement/Maintenance/conductor/transformer replacement, LPT/PMT/Livefront/service box/URD, Feeder Design, Smart Meter, Customer Driven 3rd Party Attachments, Automation, system improvement and other BC Hydro Programs. Checking and reviewing work of peers.

Prepare issue for construction packages. Coordinating with clients, co-workers, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Attend project meetings and conduct site inspections and reviews.

Provide technical/escalation support through all phases of a project. Mentor designers and EITs. Other tasks as required by management.
