Senior Software Engineer

Job Overview Position: Java Developer (Senior Software Engineer) – Vancouver, BC, Canada (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week). This temporary, full‑time role lasts approximately 13 months with an hourly rate of $65–$73. Role Summary You will design and implement high‑performance, cloud‑ready backend services in Java, utilizing frameworks such as Spring and gRPC.

You will mentor junior developers while remaining hands‑on with coding, testing, and design. Key Responsibilities Develop backend services in Java using Spring and gRPC for high‑performance applications. Own technical assets for assigned workstreams, ensuring timely delivery and production readiness.

Collaborate with external teams, manage requirements, and drive discussions related to architecture and design. Work with CI/CD tools (Jenkins), Kubernetes, containerized deployments, and support cloud migration initiatives. Participate in code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain coding standards.

Promote automation in deployment and validation processes to improve efficiency and reliability. Lead and mentor junior team members while being able to work independently. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 6+ years of experience developing backend services in Java, including Spring and gRPC.

Strong coding expertise in Java, Python, and Bash scripting. Experience with APIs and system integrations. Hands‑on exposure to CI/CD pipelines and public cloud platforms (AWS).

Ability to design modules and system components end‑to‑end. Must be based in or near Vancouver, BC, and available for a hybrid work model. Lawful authorization to work in Canada.

Desired Qualifications Experience deploying AI/ML models in production. Experience with Kubernetes and Docker. Knowledge of gRPC or strong API experience.
