Job Description
Business Analyst – Senior Work Location: Downtown Toronto near TTC and GO. Hybrid: In office on Wednesday, Thursday, and every 4th Friday of the month. Schedule: Mon–Fri 9‑5 (37.5 hours per week).
Job Summary: Professional Business Analyst responsible for managing automation and invoice processing projects (Coupa) and supporting other operational initiatives. Key Accountabilities Project Management & Execution – plan, execute, control, and close out projects or work packages, ensuring delivery against defined scope, schedule, and budget. Requirements Gathering & Analysis – collaborate with business partners to gather, validate, and document business requirements, and facilitate solution design discussions with stakeholders.
Documentation & Reporting – maintain project documentation, including plans, status reports, meeting minutes, and change requests; generate regular updates for management. Process Improvement & Compliance – identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, recommend process changes, and ensure compliance with CIBC’s standards, policies, and procedures. Risk & Issue Management – analyze project risks and issues, recommend mitigation strategies, and support decision‑making to keep initiatives on track.
Support operational initiatives beyond project work. Cross‑Functional Relationships Interact with cross‑functional teams (business, technology, consulting firms, third parties, and contingent workers). Engage with all levels of the organization to gather requirements and obtain sign‑offs from leadership teams (Senior to executive).
Compliance Requirements / Responsibilities Comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines, and controls. Authorities / Decision Rights As a key contributor to the business unit, the role has the authority to recommend changes to business processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Skills and Qualifications Must‑Have Experience in business analysis and project management (including writing requirements and documentation updates) – 5+ years, preferably in financial services.
Stakeholder management – 5 years. Communication skills – ability to convey detailed information clearly and impactfully. Collaboration skills – ability to work in cross‑functional teams and ensure all viewpoints are considered.
Influencing without authority – ability to influence others without formal authority to meet deliverable deadlines. Organized and detail‑oriented – manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with excellent time management. Tech‑savvy – proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with Microsoft Project, Teams, and SharePoint.
