Job Description
Wärtsilä is looking for a Software Developer – Mobile Apps (Flutter) to work on our port management information system. This full‑time role is based in Vancouver, BC. You will collaborate with a talented team, drive mobile innovation, and deliver high‑performance, cross‑platform solutions.
Remote day: Thursdays are remote. The office address is 570 Granville Street. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain robust cross‑platform mobile applications using Flutter.
Ensure a consistent and high‑quality user experience across Android and iOS platforms. Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate mobile apps with microservices and RESTful APIs. Participate in architectural decisions to ensure scalable, maintainable, and secure mobile solutions.
Stay current with mobile development best practices and emerging trends. Contribute to SCRUM processes and collaborate with global cross‑functional teams to deliver agile solutions for maritime challenges. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 2 years of software development experience, with at least 1 year using Flutter and Dart. Proven experience in developing and publishing mobile apps on both Android and iOS platforms. Familiarity with state‑management solutions such as Provider, Riverpod, or Bloc.
Experience consuming REST APIs and working with backend systems. Proficient with Git for version control. Ability to bring wireframes and designs to life on mobile.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CI/CD for mobile app deployments and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Flutter Driver, integration_test). Understanding of cloud‑connected apps and experience with Firebase, Azure, or similar platforms.
Exposure to maritime, port operations, or logistics. Familiarity with containerization and deployment workflows. Successful applicants must be authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
For applicants that reside in BC, the annual salary range is $80,000 CAD – $100,000 CAD. The starting salary will reflect the candidate's relevant education, skillset, experience, and internal equity.
