Faculty/Department Finance, Procurement & Planning Annual Salary Range $70,610.16 to $98,403.72 About the Job Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton. The Business Solutions Analyst plays an integral role within the Finance Partnership Network, working collaboratively with Finance Partners, Financial Analysts, systems specialists, and project management professionals to provide responsive, high-quality financial services and strategic guidance across the University.
The role proactively identifies and advances opportunities to strengthen financial processes, enhance service delivery, and address the evolving needs of academic and administrative units. The incumbent contributes to the goals of the Finance Partnership Network by promoting operational excellence and a strong culture of continuous improvement. The role delivers both strategic insight and technical expertise to Senior Finance Partners, Finance Partners and Financial Analysts, ensuring alignment with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and leading practices in financial management.
The incumbent provides critical guidance and hands-on support to Finance Partnership teams to enable seamless, efficient financial operations. The Business Solutions Analyst ensures that financial systems and tools function reliably, securely, and efficiently in support of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and informed decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders, the incumbent drives system optimization, supports enhancements and upgrades, strengthens internal controls, and advances data integrity and transparency across the Finance Partnership Network.
Responsibilities Translate strategic business objectives into optimized processes, enhanced service delivery models, automation solutions, and streamlined workflows. Support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of sustainable continuous improvement initiatives. Leverage business and technical expertise to design scalable, efficient future-state solutions aligned with organizational goals.
Design, develop, and maintain custom interfaces, data imports/exports, and system integrations, including platforms such as PeopleSoft. Develop optimized queries to support accurate and timely financial reporting. Develop comprehensive testing strategies for new functionality and defect remediation initiatives.
Enforce data security protocols, ensuring protection of sensitive information and compliance with organizational policies. Analyze query results and provide clear insights to support data-driven decision-making. Plan, lead, and coordinate project initiatives to achieve objectives within defined timelines.
Support and guide change management strategies to facilitate smooth adoption of system implementations and process improvements. Develop comprehensive training programs, user guides, reference manuals, and documentation of operational processes and system functionality. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. business administration, information systems, computer science, finance, IT).
Business Analysis and Systems professional with over 5 years of experience supporting enterprise-level information systems in complex organizational environments. Demonstrated expertise in business process analysis, software implementation, and system optimization initiatives. Strong technical proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL programming, data analysis, automation, and enterprise reporting solutions.
Skilled at translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions and enhancements that improve efficiency and performance. Experienced in applying agile methodologies, documenting requirements, designing testing strategies, and collaborating on cross-functional projects. Proven ability to enhance data integrity, streamline workflows, and optimize system performance.
Analytical thinker with advanced problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous process improvement. Effective communicator and collaborative leader, adept at engaging stakeholders and delivering results within tight deadlines. We welcome applications from all qualified persons.
