Founding Product Engineer
REM Labs
Job Description
About REM Labs REM is building an autonomous software delivery platform that executes engineering workflows end-to-end with enterprise-grade reliability, control, and governance. As AI systems begin participating directly in engineering workflows, the hard problem is no longer output generation or agent orchestration. It is reliable execution, safety, and explainability.
We are building the execution infrastructure that makes this possible. Role Overview We are hiring a Founding Product Engineer to help build the product surface for REM. This is a founding engineering role focused on building the product experiences through which users interact with autonomous software delivery systems.
You will work directly with the founder and founding engineering team to shape how enterprise users observe, understand, control, and trust autonomous execution. This is not a traditional frontend implementation role, nor a generic CRUD full-stack engineering role. We are looking for strong product engineers who enjoy owning product experiences end to end, from frontend architecture and interaction design to backend-backed application logic and real-time system behavior.
The right person thinks deeply about usability, product craftsmanship, systems behavior, and how complex backend infrastructure should translate into intuitive product experiences. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building complex workflow products, developer tooling, internal platforms, observability-heavy applications, or state-rich enterprise software. You do not need prior experience in every domain REM touches.
What matters most is strong product engineering depth, systems thinking, high ownership, and the ability to build durable production software in ambiguous founding-stage environments. What You Will Work On Workflow Product Surface Build REMβs primary product experience for autonomous software delivery workflows, including execution monitoring, approvals, intervention, and operator interaction. Execution Visibility & Explainability Design interfaces that help users understand what autonomous systems are doing, why actions happened, execution progress, failures, retries, and system decisions.
Operator Controls Build approval workflows, intervention controls, execution boundaries, governance actions, and human-in-the-loop control surfaces. Debugging & Observability UX Design product experiences for logs, traces, execution replay, failure diagnosis, event timelines, and runtime inspection. Full-Stack Product Systems Build frontend and backend product functionality across APIs, workflow state, persistence, real-time updates, and interaction layers.
Product Foundations Help define product architecture, UX patterns, interaction models, and product quality standards from first principles. What We Are Looking For Typically 5β10 years of engineering experience across product engineering, full-stack systems, frontend architecture, or backend-backed product platforms. Strong candidates typically have meaningful experience across several of the following: modern frontend engineering ( React / Next.js / TypeScript ) backend APIs in Python / Node / Go or similar real-time interfaces, streaming state, websockets, or event-driven UI complex state-heavy applications workflow products, internal tools, developer tools, or enterprise SaaS platforms strong product design intuition and systems thinking experience building polished production software, not prototypes alone Strong pluses: developer tooling products observability products workflow platforms AI product interfaces enterprise software products infrastructure-backed product systems You do not need deep expertise across all of the above.
We care far more about strong product engineering judgment, ownership, product taste, and the ability to build high-quality systems collaboratively with backend and AI engineers. What Success Looks Like In the first few months, success means: building REMβs initial workflow product experience making autonomous execution visible, understandable, and controllable shipping operator-facing debugging and intervention workflows helping design approval and governance product surfaces partnering closely with backend and AI engineers to translate execution infrastructure into usable product experiences contributing meaningfully to early design partner demos and pilot readiness Over time, this role is expected to evolve into a major product engineering leadership position. Team Culture We value: first-principles thinking strong engineering judgment high agency low ego collaboration intellectual honesty building durable systems over short-term hacks wicked smart energy strong design thinking and product craftsmanship consumer-grade product intuition applied to enterprise systems This is a founding-stage environment.
Problems are ambiguous, constraints evolve quickly, and many patterns do not yet exist. Location Bangalore Compensation competitive cash compensation meaningful founding-stage equity significant ownership and long-term influence
