Position Title: People & Talent Operations Manager Salary: CA$100,000 – CA$150,000 (Based on experience) Location: Toronto, Canada About the Role Are you a sharp, self-directed HR professional who thrives on turning startup chaos into organized, efficient systems? Our client is a fast-growing, high-impact fintech startup that is fundamentally changing how AI influences banking and cash management. Currently sitting at around 40 employees, they are looking for their Founding HR Member to take the reins of their entire People and Talent function across both Canada and the U.S.

Previously, things have been handled on an ad-hoc basis. You will be the mastermind who stands up structured processes, designs compliance frameworks, and builds a world-class employee experience from the ground up. What You’ll Be Doing Own the Infrastructure: Run payroll, contractor payments, and benefits administration across both U.S. and Canadian entities.

Build the Journey: Stand up and maintain seamless onboarding and offboarding processes (including offer letters, I-9s, compliance checklists, and legal workflows). Guard the Governance: Ensure strict compliance with evolving employment laws across multiple jurisdictions. Fuel Company Growth: Support recruiting efforts by managing the ATS, coordinating candidate pipelines, and collaborating with external recruitment partners.

Scale the Culture: Author and enforce HR policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as the team scales past 40+ people. What We're Looking For 3–5 years of experience in a dedicated People Operations, HR Generalist, or Talent Operations role—ideally within a fast-paced tech startup. Cross-Border Expertise: Proven experience handling payroll, compliance, and employment laws across both Canada and the United States.
