Innovative. Engaged. What you’ll do Team up with others in the department to perform tasks including: Pre‑construction design and development of the complete power system, protection and control and concept of operation.
Design and develop site‑wide electrical distribution Sequence of Operation that ensures system reliability and resiliency. Coordinate with utility, turbine power plant, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) or a combination of all three. Spec, evaluate, and review vendor or manufacturer submittal and equipment to ensure they conform for the system design requirement.
Conduct vendor coordination meetings to ensure all systems and equipment work well together. Design and develop mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical interlock systems. Work with other internal teams to specify proper relaying with the proper instrument transformers to ensure secure and dependable operation.
Design and develop system‑wide automation systems using PLC or RTAC style industrial controllers, including but not limited to system overload prevention, multi‑purpose busway interlocks, load management systems, generator plant load curtailment systems, Gen plant start and load controls, selective load pickup and load shed schemes, etc. Design and develop relay protection and automation logics. What you bring to us Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
Typical minimum of 8 years of engineering experience. One‑year on‑site field experience strongly encouraged. Licensure as a US‑based Professional Engineer is required.
Combination of education, training, and relevant experience is acceptable. What you’ll need to be successful Self‑starting, avid learner of new technologies and products. Strong understanding of power distribution systems, relaying, and automation systems.
Preferred product knowledge on electrical power system components such as emergency generators, transformers, switchgears, switchboards, automatic transfer switches, protective relays, UPS systems, DRUPS systems, motors, Static Transfer Switches, PDUs, battery storage systems (BESS), inverters, PV systems, wind turbines, substation equipment, etc. Ability to understand power system studies and analyze TCCs. Strong result‑driven attitude and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work under time pressure with a positive attitude. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player. Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others. Travel Up to 25% travel (does not include local field visits).
Working Conditions General work environment: sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; primarily indoors with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is low to medium. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
