Independent School - Sunshine Coast
Contract | Commencing October/November 2026 - July 2027

Our client is a non-denominational independent school on the Sunshine Coast. Its finance team supports both the School and its Early Learning operations, helping the wider school community make sound financial decisions.

The School is seeking an experienced Accountant for a nine-month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the Business Manager, you will keep financial records and reporting accurate and timely while providing practical support across day-to-day finance, budgeting and compliance.

You will:

Prepare monthly accounts, management reports, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.

Support annual budgets, forecasts, cash-flow planning and variance analysis.

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and school fee processes.

Assist with payroll reconciliations, superannuation, BAS, GST and other statutory obligations.

Prepare year-end schedules and support the external audit.

Provide clear financial information for the Business Manager, Principal and Board.

Support financial reporting for the School’s Early Learning operations and help improve finance processes.

About you

You hold a Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent qualification and have at least five years’ relevant accounting experience. You are confident preparing monthly accounts and reconciliations, and have worked across budgeting, management reporting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial compliance.

You bring sound judgement, strong Excel skills and close attention to detail. You can explain financial information clearly, work well with colleagues across a school community and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Experience in an independent school, education, Early Learning or not-for-profit setting will be highly regarded. CPA or CA membership, or progress towards either qualification, is also desirable. Familiarity with TASS, Alii or Xplor would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will need to meet the School’s child safety requirements, including holding or obtaining a Paid Working with Children Blue Card before commencement where required.
