Fisheries Technician

Role Description The Fisheries Technician role at PonicOne is a full-time, on-site position based in Hyderabad. This role involves supporting the daily operation of aquaponic and fisheries systems, including monitoring fish health, water quality, and feeding schedules. The Fisheries Technician will perform routine field work such as inspecting tanks and grow beds, recording data, and assisting with maintenance and cleaning of equipment.

The role includes collaborating with farm staff to optimize fish and plant production, identifying early signs of disease or stress in fish, and implementing standard operating procedures. The Fisheries Technician will also assist with inventory management, basic troubleshooting of system issues, and contribute to continuous improvement in sustainable aquaponic practices.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in fisheries, fisheries management, and aquaculture systems.
• Hands-on experience working with fish, including care, feeding, and health monitoring.
• Ability to perform field work in farm environments, including regular inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
• Understanding of sustainable farming practices, aquaponics, or vertical farming is highly beneficial.
• Diploma or degree in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
• Comfort with data recording, basic measurements (e.g., water quality parameters), and use of simple testing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow safety and operational procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional farm teams and communicate clearly in English or local languages.
