Accountant

About Our Client

We are seeking a talented, experienced Accountant to support accounting, financial reporting, cash flow and forecasting within a large, complex public-sector environment. This is currently a hybrid model but may move to 5 days in the office in the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly GL and balance sheet reconciliations, including payroll, AP accruals, fixed assets and capital accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals and monthly account analyses.
• Support weekly, monthly and annual cash flow reporting and forecasting.
• Assist with year-end audit requirements, including schedules, analysis and supporting documentation.
• Support Finance projects involving process, system and procedure improvements.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and respond to accounting, reporting and financial process inquiries.
• Prepare financial reports, analysis and ad hoc reporting as required.

Requirements

• CPA designation.
• University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including: General accounting and financial reporting, Cash flow and forecasting, Banking / treasury-related activities, Balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, Year-end audit support.
• Must have experience working within a large government or public-sector organization.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong hands-on experience with Sage 300 / ACCPAC.
• Experience with procurement and purchase order systems.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Excellent communication, analytical and relationship-management skills.
