Job Description
The purpose of the role is to lead Mackay Isaac Tourism's (MIT) destination and other marketing, trade development and communications functions to enable MIT to undertake its primary role to market the Mackay Isaac destination.
Key responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of MIT's annual destination marketing program, including brand marketing, campaign activities, and tactical promotions
Oversee the work of external contractors or agencies to ensure campaign activity is delivered on time, on brand and within budget
Manage MIT's destination marketing channels and programs, including oversight of social media, websites, blogs, EDMs, paid advertising and content creation
Ensure all marketing activities align with MIT's brand position and regional destinations strategy
Coordinate cooperative marketing partnerships with industry and stakeholders
Maintain productive relationships with relevant industry stakeholders, including DETSI, TEQ, QTIC and the like
Oversee corporate, member and consumer communications including newsletters and EDMs, media releases, promotional publicity and stakeholder updates
Act as primary contact for funding partners 7/7+, SCA and QRT as marketing partners, including negotiating annual partnership agreements
Lead the delivery of MIT's Trade Readiness program, including coordination with external agencies
Manage communication and engagement with Trade Ready operators and industry partners, including ITOs, OTAs, wholesalers and other trade contacts
Develop and maintain trade assets, including the Mackay Isaac Trade Manual, sample itineraries, product sheets, and trade-facing digital content
Lead the delivery of the annual Mackay Isaac regional tourism awards, including nomination and judging processes
Represent MIT and lead delegations at trade events, including annual ATE
Ensure financial budget for allocated projects is managed within organisation guidelines and policy
Provide leadership and supervision of the Marketing and Communications Officer including oversight of workplan and performance
Prepare reports, partner updates and performance insights as required for marketing, trade and communications for partner reporting and funding acquittal
Represent MIT at assigned meetings, activities and events
Contribute positively to workplace culture and uphold workplace health and safety requirements
About you
Experience in destination marketing, trade development and communications
Ability to lead the development and implementation of marketing programs and strategies
Experience managing external contractors or agencies
Experience managing marketing channels including social media, websites, EDMs and paid advertising
Experience in trade readiness and engagement with industry partners
Experience in financial and project management
Experience in staff supervision and leadership
Ability to represent an organisation at trade events and industry meetings
