Position: Intermediate Data Quality Analyst

Duration: 12 months

Client Location: Brampton, ON (Hybrid Opportunity): 7 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)

Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement - B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

Note on Assignment Type

This position is provisionally Onsite, requiring 7 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

Project Overview

Development Services is undertaking a data quality improvement initiative to support modernization of development application tracking systems. The consultant will review, validate, cleanse, update, correct, and maintain data within a large, complex Excel-based repository, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and integrity of information. The work supports growth forecasting, infrastructure planning, reporting, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review development application files from 2021 onward and validate information against source documents.
  • Update and correct application information where required.
  • Review planning reports, site plans, approval notices, clearance letters, registration documents, and related records.
  • Extract and validate residential unit counts by housing type.
  • Extract and validate gross floor area (GFA) by land-use classification.
  • Track changes through application resubmissions and document revisions.
  • Verify application statuses, approvals, registrations, and clearance information.
  • Identify data discrepancies, missing information, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
  • Cross-reference related development applications and associated files.
  • Maintain accurate tracking spreadsheets and database records.
  • Support cleanup and migration of historical development application data.
  • Participate in quality control and validation exercises.

Mandatory Qualifications / Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in data quality, data analysis, data validation, data cleansing, or data governance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
  • Filtering
  • Sorting
  • Data validation functions
  • Experience reviewing and correcting large, complex datasets.
  • Experience identifying and resolving data discrepancies, duplicates, missing information, and integrity issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience documenting findings, corrections, assumptions, and data quality issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Ability to interpret plans, charts, forms, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational and records management skills.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of repetitive work while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with GIS, planning databases, records management systems, or document management systems.
