Bilingual Senior Investigator
FULL TIME, PERMANENT
Location: Remote within Canada
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (35 hours per week)
Salary: Up to $105,000 + bonus

Job Summary:
The Senior Investigator independently manages a varied caseload involving banking and investment matters. The role requires careful analysis of evidence, sound judgment, clear communication and the ability to move complex, multi-issue files toward fair and well-supported outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Case Investigation
- Maintain complete, accurate and well-organized case records
- Review information and documentation submitted by all relevant parties
- Identify the key issues and develop an appropriate investigation plan
- Identify and obtain any additional records required from involved parties or external sources
- Prepare for and conduct interviews with individuals, organizational representatives and third parties
- Conduct relevant legal, regulatory, industry and factual research
- Evaluate the evidence and determine the relevance and reliability of the information collected
- Work with internal financial specialists when analysis or loss calculations are required, then review and interpret the results for accuracy
- Maintain professional and timely communication with all relevant parties throughout active investigations
- Reach well-supported conclusions that:
- are based on a thorough and impartial review;
- consider all relevant evidence and information; and
- are consistent with established internal policies, procedures and applicable requirements
- Consult with the Investigations Manager or colleagues when additional guidance or expertise is appropriate
- Clearly document the analysis, reasoning and recommended conclusions
- Explain the investigation process, findings and approved conclusions to the relevant parties
- Prepare clear written assessments, proposed resolutions and other formal correspondence
- Support constructive resolution discussions and document agreed outcomes in writing
- When an agreed resolution cannot be reached, prepare a clear and persuasive investigation report and communicate the recommended outcome
- Complete investigations accurately, efficiently and within established timelines
- Respond professionally to appropriate follow-up inquiries after a case is closed
Qualifications:
- Fluently bilingual (English/French) β Spoken and Written
- 5+ yearsβ experience dealing with investigations in the Financial Industry
- Extensive, directly relevant experience completing investment investigations
- Law or legal background
- University Degree
- MS Office knowledge
- Strong knowledge of either banking or investment products, the relevant legal and regulatory environment and applicable industry practices, along with working knowledge of the other sector
- Strong judgment β the ability to make responsible decisions independently based on available information
- A demonstrated personal commitment to fairness and ethics
- Strong analytical skills β including the ability to break down complex or multi-dimensional problems, interpret and determine relevancy of information, and use conceptual or inductive reasoning to identify options and solutions
- Strong planning, organizational and time-management skills - including the ability to identify tasks and resources required to complete investigations, the ability to use technology and identify resources to streamline investigations, and the ability to complete tasks and investigations within pre-determined timelines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex matters clearly, concisely and professionally to individuals, organizations and management
- Strong interviewing skills β including the ability to independently prepare for and conduct interviews and judge the reliability, credibility and veracity of persons interviewed
- Strong research skills and techniques
- Strong teamwork β ability to work effectively with colleagues and management
- Good computer skills, particularly working proficiently with Word, Excel, Outlook and contact management/database applications and an ability to understand and adapt to new technologies
