WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS

This is not a production-only graphic design position. The Art Director should be a strong designer with broad creative instincts who is comfortable thinking beyond a single deliverable.

They should be able to:

  • Develop ideas, not just execute them.
  • Work confidently across different mediums and brand touchpoints.
  • Present thoughtful concepts with references and rationale.
  • Take direction without requiring constant supervision.
  • Know when to follow an established system and when to suggest something new.
  • Handle both larger creative projects and smaller everyday brand needs.
  • Receive feedback well and improve the work without becoming defensive.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Art Director and Creative Director.
  • Share ideas openly, support other creatives and prioritize the strength of the final work over individual ownership.
  • Care more about moving the brand forward than competing for credit.
ROLE HIERARCHY

CREATIVE DIRECTOR Defines the overarching creative vision, brand identity and direction of Clocks + Colours.

SENIOR ART DIRECTOR Translates and executes that vision across the brand, directing day-to-day visual systems, projects and creative execution.

ART DIRECTOR Reports to and supports the Senior Art Director, helping develop and execute creative across multiple brand touchpoints. Takes ownership of assigned projects, contributes original ideas and helps move work from concept through execution while staying aligned with the wider creative direction.

Reports to: Senior Art Director Works closely with: Creative Director, Photographer, Video Editor, Marketing, Social, E-commerce, Production, Retail and external partners.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIESGRAPHIC DESIGN

Own a large portion of day-to-day graphic design and visual execution across the brand.

  • Design assets for web, email, social, advertising, print, retail and internal brand needs.
  • Develop layouts, graphics, typography systems and supporting visual treatments.
  • Adapt master creative across multiple formats and channels.
  • Build signage and event or retail assets when required.
  • Take projects from brief through final execution with minimal hand-holding once direction is established.
  • Maintain high visual consistency across all work.
CAMPAIGNS + CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Support the Senior Art Director and Creative Director in developing and executing campaign ideas.

  • Contribute ideas and visual concepts for campaigns, shoots and brand moments.
  • Build references, mockups and presentation materials to communicate concepts.
  • Help develop campaign-specific design systems and supporting assets.
  • Assist with rollout and execution across required touchpoints.
  • Confidently pitch well-considered ideas rather than waiting only for assigned execution.
PACKAGING

Support the development and execution of branded packaging and physical touchpoints.

  • Design packaging artwork and components under established direction.
  • Develop mockups, layouts and production-ready artwork.
  • Help update or expand existing packaging systems.
  • Assist with revisions following internal or supplier feedback.
  • Maintain organized packaging files and brand standards.
APPAREL GRAPHICS

Support apparel through graphic development and branded applications.

  • Develop apparel graphics, prints and artwork from Creative Director or Senior Art Director direction.
  • Prepare production-ready artwork where required.
  • Assist with branded tags, trims and supporting apparel graphics.
  • Contribute apparel graphic ideas when relevant and appropriately developed.
BRAND SYSTEMS

Help maintain and evolve the visual systems used across the company.

  • Update brand guides, templates and internal creative resources.
  • Help document new standards as the brand evolves.
  • Build repeatable systems that make future execution faster and more consistent.
  • Flag inconsistencies or opportunities to improve existing brand systems.
  • Ensure new work follows established brand standards.
COPY

Assist with copy development when needed.

  • Help write or refine product copy, headlines, advertising copy and short-form brand messaging.
  • Review copy against existing tone-of-voice guidelines.
  • Support updates to copy guides and internal writing standards.
  • Contribute naming and messaging ideas when relevant.
RETAIL + ACTIVATIONS

Support the execution of physical brand experiences.

  • Develop signage, printed materials and supporting event assets.
  • Help adapt campaign or brand systems into retail environments.
  • Support activations, launches and special projects as required.
  • Assist with last-mile execution to ensure physical touchpoints remain visually cohesive.
PROJECT SUPPORT + EXECUTION

Act as a flexible creative resource across projects that do not fall neatly into one discipline.

  • Take ownership of assigned projects and move them forward independently.
  • Work across graphic design, branding, packaging, apparel, campaigns and other creative needs as required.
  • Ask the right questions early, then execute confidently.
  • Manage files, feedback and revisions efficiently.
  • Work within deadlines and flag issues before they become problems.
  • Support the Senior Art Director wherever additional creative capacity is needed.
