MYP Individuals & Societies (I&S) and DP History Teacher
\n\nTo deliver high-quality, inquiry-based teaching in IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Individuals & Societies and IB Diploma Programme (DP) History , fostering critical thinking, international-mindedness, research skills, and a deep understanding of historical and contemporary global issues in alignment with the IB philosophy. MYP Individuals & Societies integrates disciplines such as history, geography, economics, civics, politics and related humanities subjects.
\n\nKey Responsibilities
\n1. Curriculum Planning & Delivery
\n- \n
- Teach MYP Individuals & Societies (Grades 6โ10) and DP History (Grades 11โ12). \n
- Design concept-driven, inquiry-based units aligned with IB curriculum frameworks. \n
- Develop Unit Planners using: \n
- Key & Related Concepts \n
- Global Contexts \n
- Statement of Inquiry \n
- Inquiry Questions \n
- ATL (Approaches to Learning) Skills \n
- Integrate interdisciplinary learning experiences. \n
- Promote historical inquiry using primary and secondary sources. \n
- Connect historical events with present-day global issues. \n
2. Teaching & Learning

- Deliver engaging lessons using: \n
- Inquiry-based learning \n
- Project-based learning \n
- Collaborative learning \n
- Debates \n
- Simulations \n
- Case studies \n
- Research activities \n
- Encourage analytical thinking, interpretation, and evaluation of evidence. \n
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs. \n
- Effectively integrate educational technology into teaching. \n
3. Assessment
\n- \n
- Design formative and summative assessments aligned with: \n
- MYP Assessment Criteria (A, B, C & D) \n
- DP History Assessment Objectives \n
- Provide timely and constructive feedback. \n
- Maintain student portfolios and assessment records. \n
- Prepare students for: \n
- MYP eAssessment (where applicable) \n
- DP Internal Assessment (Historical Investigation) \n
- DP External Examinations \n
4. Student Development
\n- \n
- Promote the IB Learner Profile attributes. \n
- Develop students' research, communication, collaboration and reflection skills. \n
- Mentor students for: \n
- Personal Project (MYP) \n
- Extended Essay (History) where assigned \n
- CAS reflections (if applicable) \n
- Provide pastoral care and academic guidance. \n
5. Collaboration
\n- \n
- Work closely with: \n
- MYP & DP Coordinators \n
- Humanities Department \n
- Learning Support Team \n
- Librarian \n
- Participate in curriculum review and collaborative planning. \n
- Attend parent-teacher meetings and student conferences. \n
- Support school accreditation and IB evaluation processes. \n
6. Professional Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Participate in IB workshops and professional development. \n
- Stay updated with IB curriculum changes and assessment practices. \n
- Maintain classroom resources and documentation. \n
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, educational trips, Model United Nations (MUN), History Clubs and community engagement initiatives. \n
Qualifications
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Master's Degree in History / Political Science / International Relations / Humanities or related discipline. \n
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification. \n
- IB MYP and/or DP training (Category 1/2 preferred). \n
- Excellent English communication skills. \n
Preferred
\n- \n
- IB teaching certification. \n
- Experience with international curricula. \n
- Experience teaching both MYP and DP History. \n
Experience
\n- \n
- Minimum 3โ5 years teaching experience in History/Humanities. \n
- Prior experience in an IB World School is highly desirable. \n
- Experience teaching both MYP Individuals & Societies and DP History is preferred. \n
