Salary: £40,000 £55,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus
About the RoleOur client is looking for an Account Executive to join their fast-growing Contingency Insurance team in London, supporting their European business with a particular focus on Italy. Working closely with the lead Business Producer, you'll play a key role in a niche, high-volume corner of the market: event cancellation insurance for music tours and festivals, alongside their wider contingency portfolio.
This is a hands-on, hybrid role combining documentation and account handling with a supporting broking function preparing quote slips and MRC documentation, progressing risks through PPL, and helping the producer approach underwriters and negotiate terms. It's best suited to someone who wants to get stuck in and deliver not just tick a box on the way to the next job title.
The London team is small, flat in structure, and fast-moving. You'll get direct exposure to senior brokers and real client relationships from day one.
What You'll Be DoingDocumentation & Account Handling
Prepare quote slips for European risks, incorporating risk details and coverage requirements for the producer's review
Create MRC (Market Reform Contract) slips post-bind, handle endorsements, and issue documentation to clients and retail brokers
Progress slips and endorsements through PPL (Placing Platform Limited), liaising with underwriters for stamps and approvals, and chasing proactively where deadlines are at risk
Broking & Client Support
Support the producer in approaching underwriters, presenting risks, and negotiating terms and conditions
Act as a day-to-day point of contact for European clients and retail brokers alongside the producer
Build product knowledge across the contingency portfolio, including market appetite and pricing
Manage the terrorism binder
Pipeline & Workflow
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of the European pipeline opportunities in development, risks out to market, quotes issued and decisions outstanding
Track quote validity dates and subjectivities, ensuring nothing lapses without follow-up
Issue documentation directly wherever capacity allows, acting as first line of document production for the producer's book
Escalate clearly to the Account Handling Team where workload exceeds capacity
What We're Looking ForEssential
23 years of broking experience (or equivalent account handling / documentation / carrier-side experience with client or underwriting relationships)
Working knowledge of MRC slip preparation and policy documentation
Confident, professional written and verbal communication with clients, brokers and underwriters
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills, comfortable managing competing deadlines
A proactive, self-motivated approach someone who chases, follows up, and gets things over the line
A hands-on, team-first attitude suited to a busy, seasonal workload (springautumn is our peak period)
Desirable
Previous experience in Contingency Insurance, particularly non-appearance and event cancellation
Italian language skills and/or exposure to European business
Familiarity with PPL (full training provided)
Professional insurance qualifications (CII/ACII), held or in progress
