Company Overview
Our client is a well-established and growing independent commercial insurance brokerage based in Belfast, providing tailored insurance and risk management solutions to businesses across Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Broking Manager to lead the day-to-day broking function, supporting the development of the team while maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurers.
Role Purpose
As Broking Manager, you will take responsibility for the performance, development and technical standards of the broking team.
You will work closely with Account Executives, brokers, insurers and senior management to ensure risks are placed effectively, client service remains at a high standard and the broking function operates efficiently.
This role would suit an experienced Senior Broker or Team Leader ready to step into a broader management position, with responsibility for people, processes and the overall delivery of the broking function.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage and develop the commercial broking team.
Take ownership of team performance, workloads and service levels.
Provide technical guidance and support on complex commercial risks and placements.
Oversee renewals, new business enquiries and insurance placements.
Manage relationships with key insurers and support the team in securing competitive terms.
Ensure broking processes, documentation and regulatory requirements are consistently maintained.
Review complex quotations, policies and placement strategies where required.
Coach and develop team members, identifying training and development requirements.
Monitor team activity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and client service.
Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of new members of the broking team.
Work closely with Account Executives to ensure clients receive a high level of service.
Attend key client and insurer meetings where technical or management input is required.
Contribute to the continued growth and development of the wider brokerage.
Work closely with senior management on strategic and operational priorities for the broking function.
Essential Criteria
Strong commercial insurance broking experience.
Previous experience at Senior Broker, Team Leader or management level.
Strong technical knowledge across commercial insurance products and placements.
Proven experience managing, mentoring or developing a broking team.
Strong relationships with clients and insurers.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
A commercially focused approach to client service and team performance.
Desirable
Cert CII qualified or working towards Dip CII/ACII.
Established insurer relationships across Northern Ireland and the UK.
Experience handling complex commercial or corporate risks.
Previous responsibility for team performance, processes or operational delivery.
