We are looking for an experienced and proactive part-time (3 days a week) HR & Professional Development Manager with a strong background across the full range of generalist HR disciplines to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Partners and Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will bring a pragmatic and people-focused approach, ensuring HR best practice and employment law compliance whilst supporting employee wellbeing, engagement, performance and development.


The role:

HR Management

·        Acting as the first point of contact for all HR matters.

·     Managing employee relations, supporting the continuous maintenance and improvement of a

positive work environment, and assisting with conflict resolution.

·      Providing advice and guidance to Partners on HR management, employment law and

recommendations on policies, procedures and practices.

·        Advising on compliance matters and HR best practice in the legal services sector and generally.

·        Developing and implementing current and future HR strategies, including policies, procedures and

forms.

·        Preparing HR documentation such as offer letters, contracts, references, reports and analyses.

·        Monitoring, measuring and reporting on HR activity and issues.

·        Managing recruitment processes and supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment cycle.

·        Overseeing onboarding and integration of new employees.

·        Managing annual leave processes and other planned and unplanned absences.

·        Advising on workforce planning.

·        Managing HR processes including salary and bonus reviews and performance appraisals.

·        Managing and supporting investigations for disciplinary and grievance processes.

·        Managing maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave processes.

·        Conducting exit interviews and reporting to managers on key themes and trends.

·        Maintaining and continuously improving HR systems, employee records and people data.


Professional Development & Employment Engagement

·       Providing tailored and effective coaching and developmental support to employees to improve and

optimise performance and career progression.

·        Supporting employees identifying and achieving professional development goals.

·        Monitoring workloads and promoting effective performance.

·        Observing, contributing to and reporting on firm culture and opportunities for enhancement.

·       Working closely with Partners and managers to support employee development, retention and

alignment with firm values.

·        Facilitating flow of feedback from team members to Partners and supporting Partner professional

development.

·       Identifying specific and firmwide learning and development opportunities to support individual and

business objectives.

·        Developing initiatives that improve employee experience and wellbeing.

·        Leading by example and acting as a role model.


Qualifications

·        Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.

·        Experience working within a law firm or professional services environment.

·        Fluent English.

·        Technical proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Office, Excel and HR systems.

·        CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent is desirable.

·       A recognised coaching qualification (e.g. ILM, EMCC, ICF or equivalent) or demonstrable coaching

experience is desirable.
