Performance & Attribution Analyst - Global Investment Manager


London, Hybrid


Bruin are working with a leading global investment management business to appoint a Performance & Attribution Analyst to join its high-performing Performance Analysis & Attribution team.


The team works closely with Portfolio Managers, Risk and investment professionals to understand, analyse and clearly explain portfolio performance across a broad range of global investment strategies.


The role will have a particular focus on Equity and Fund of Fund portfolios, with the opportunity to support Fixed Income and develop broader expertise across multiple asset classes.

The Role


You will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful performance measurement and attribution analysis, helping investment teams understand the key drivers of portfolio returns and relative performance.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing day-to-day performance measurement and attribution analysis, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and consistency with benchmarks and internal standards.
  • Analysing and explaining the drivers of daily excess performance, including market movements, market methodology and rebalances, corporate actions, cash flows and timing differences between funds and benchmarks.
  • Preparing and presenting performance and attribution insights to Portfolio Managers and Risk teams, including participation in regular performance review forums.
  • Applying established performance measurement and attribution methodologies, including equity attribution techniques such as Brinson-based attribution.
  • Validating and reconciling performance and attribution outputs across multiple systems and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Responding to analytical and technical queries and working with senior colleagues on more complex performance topics.
  • Using analytical tools and datasets including Excel, FactSet, SQL and Python to support analysis, reporting and process improvements.
  • Contributing to automation, standardisation and wider process improvement initiatives.
  • Working collaboratively within a global team and contributing to knowledge sharing and best practice.


Ideally, you will have:

  • Hands-on experience in investment performance measurement and attribution.
  • Experience supporting Equity and/or Fund of Fund portfolios.
  • Good knowledge of equity attribution methodologies, ideally including Brinson-based attribution.
  • Exposure to Fixed Income performance and attribution would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of equity markets and based investment strategies.
  • Ability to identify performance drivers and communicate them clearly to investment stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive, curious and continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Portfolio Managers, Risk and wider investment teams.
