Beverage Manager / Assistant General Manage

About the Role

The Group Hospitality is seeking a Beverage Manager / Assistant General Manager to lead our beverage program while serving as a key leader in the day-to-day management of the restaurant. In this dual role, you'll develop and elevate our beverage offerings while partnering closely with the General Manager to drive an efficient, profitable, and hospitality-focused operation. You'll build the bar program, manage front-of-house and back-of-house operations, develop and inspire the team, and help set the standard for exceptional guest experiences.

What You'll Do

Beverage Program

• Ensure a distinctive and consistent beverage program
• Ensure all drink recipes, procedures, and quality standards are consistently executed
• Maintain the highest bar standards, conditions, and product consistency

Operations & Financial Performance

• Develop and execute sales and profit plans in line with budgetary goals
• Take ownership of restaurant profitability by growing sales and controlling cost of goods
• Manage ordering, inventory, and GL for assigned categories
• Maintain target labor costs while ensuring appropriate staffing for business needs
• Oversee cash management and loss prevention, including cash handling, deposits, and safe procedures
• Review time punches, time cards, and tip sheets for accuracy; address time clock issues through coaching
• Open and/or close the restaurant, completing all opening and closing checklists
• Perform all POS functions, including comps, voids, transfers, and back-office administration
• Plan, execute, and communicate promotions and initiatives effectively
• Conduct Department of Health walk-throughs and address any compliance issues immediately
• Promote safe work habits; identify and resolve hazards, and document/investigate incidents
• Approve maintenance and repairs through the General Manager

Team Leadership

• Hire, train, supervise, coach, counsel, and evaluate hourly team members
• Act as a role model for outstanding service and embody hospitality in daily actions
• Coach and develop the management team and hourly staff to meet service standards
• Resolve team member and guest conflicts through established procedures
• Partner with the General Manager on job postings, interviewing, and hiring
• Identify staffing needs and facilitate ongoing training and development, documenting developmental plans as needed
• Educate team members on products and services
• Build morale and team spirit in an environment where input is encouraged

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years' experience as a Bar or Lounge Manager, or in a similar-caliber concept
• Strong leadership presence that inspires teams to meet and exceed standards
• Solid financial acumen, including comfort with math, percentages, and algebraic equations
• Proficiency with standard software (Gmail, Microsoft Office) and ability to learn moderately complex systems
• Excellent, efficient communication skills
• Polished, professional presentation
• Ability to perform under pressure and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment

Physical & Schedule Requirements

• Able to lift 30+ pounds
• Able to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously for extended periods
• Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and a variable schedule per business needs
• Fluent in written and spoken English

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Culinary Management, or a similar field preferred
• NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene Food Protection Certificate
• TIPS Certification preferred
