Role Overview
The BIM Mechanical Engineer supports the development, coordination, and delivery of mechanical (HVAC, cooling, piping) BIM/Revit models for hyperscale and colocation data centre projects. Working within CTS's São Paulo engineering hub, the role bridges mechanical engineering knowledge with BIM modelling and coordination practice — ensuring mechanical models are accurate, clash-free, and aligned with project standards, client requirements, and applicable codes. The scope and level of ownership vary by experience band, from supporting model development under supervision (Junior), to owning mechanical model delivery end-to-end (Intermediate), to defining BIM strategy and holding technical sign-off authority for the mechanical discipline (Senior).
This is an opportunity to build specialist expertise in mechanical BIM coordination within a fast-track, multidisciplinary project environment, alongside experienced engineers across CTS's global project portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain coordinated mechanical BIM/Revit models covering HVAC, cooling, piping, ductwork, and associated plant systems from concept through IFC and as-built stages.
- Produce mechanical drawings, schematics, equipment layouts, ductwork and pipe routing, schedules, quantities, and model-based deliverables.
- Perform or support clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination using Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or equivalent common data environments.
- Coordinate mechanical model interfaces with electrical, structural, architectural, vendor, and OEM stakeholders to achieve accurate, constructible, clash-free outputs.
- Develop and maintain model content in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan, level of detail/information requirements, naming conventions, ISO 19650 principles, and project quality standards.
- Support the selection, sizing, layout, and BIM integration of mechanical equipment such as chillers, CRAHs, AHUs, pumps, CDUs, and heat-rejection systems, according to role capability.
- Review or support the review of vendor and OEM technical submittals, equipment data, and model content for BIM integration.
- Prepare model views, clash reports, bills of quantities, material take-offs, equipment schedules, RFIs, technical submittals, and other engineering documentation.
- Participate in model audits, integrated design reviews, coordination meetings, technical workshops, site-query resolution, and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of mechanical BIM standards, digital workflows, model quality, and team capability; guide colleagues where appropriate.
