Industrial Design Intern (Remote)

Company Description 

The Red Bridge Ventures Ltd is an early-stage UK hardware startup developing a premium, modular, multi-fuel outdoor cooking system. We are building the "Teenage Engineering" of outdoor cooking.

About the Project & Role 

We are building a highly engineered, premium modular BBQ. We have a reference design with the internal physics and structural geometry proven, and now are looking for a talented Industrial Design (ID) intern to refine the "outside-in" user experience. We need to transform this highly functional, modular prototype into a highly desirable, market-ready consumer product.

You will collaborate directly with our founder and lead mechanical engineer to transform this prototype into a highly desirable, market-ready consumer product guided by Dieter Rams' design principles.

Contract & Availability Requirements

• Role: 3-Month Full-Time Remote Internship
• Stipend: ₹12,500 / month
• Strict Availability: You must be a recent graduate or currently on a dedicated 6-month industry gap semester. Active students with daytime university classes will not be considered. We require dedicated, full-time hours to match our rapid prototyping pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the CMF strategy and soften industrial edges without compromising the established internal thermal architecture.
• Design intuitive, premium physical touchpoints: lifting handles, external latches, vent dials, and modular mounting points for future ecosystem expansions.
• Design within strict real-world DFM constraints, relying heavily on CNC laser cutting, press-brake folding ("industrial origami"), spot welding, and structural rivets.
• Produce high-quality, photorealistic renders (e.g., KeyShot) of the final product for use in pitch decks and early marketing.

Requirements

• Background in Industrial/Product Design (e.g., NID, IDC IIT Bombay, MIT ID, etc.).
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360) and rendering software (KeyShot, Blender).
• A portfolio showcasing physical hardware products, materials, and form factor (not just UI/UX apps or soft goods).
• A solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes (CNC laser cutting and press brake folding) is highly desirable.
