We're partnering with a global insurance and reinsurance organisation to recruit an experienced Reinsurance Accountant to join their Reinsurance Operations team in Madrid.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with reinsurance experience to join a highly collaborative international business, supporting complex accounting and reporting activities across multiple markets.
The Opportunity
As a Reinsurance Accountant, you will be responsible for the accounting, reporting and reconciliation activities associated with assigned reinsurance portfolios. You will play a key role in ensuring data accuracy, supporting financial controls and partnering with stakeholders across Operations, Finance and Claims.
This position offers exposure to a diverse range of reinsurance products and processes within a dynamic and supportive global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day underwriting accounting and operational support activities.
- Prepare and maintain accounting records, financial reports and management information.
- Monitor reinsurance receivables, payables and related banking activities.
- Support credit control processes and reporting.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of reinsurance accounting data and controls.
- Liaise with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting queries.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and project work.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, Claims and international business teams.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience within the insurance or reinsurance sector.
- Strong background in Reinsurance Accounting, Reporting, or Financial Control.
- Experience handling Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance business.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
