Senior Golang Platform Engineer – Contract (€400 a day)

Location: Dublin – Hybrid, 3 days onsite

Type: Initial8-Month Contract – Strong Potential to Extend

A large international technology organisation on the continued development of a highly available, distributed technology platform. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer to work within an experienced technical team on large-scale, business-critical systems, with exposure to modern platform engineering, networking, edge technologies and AI-assisted development.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Senior Golang Platform Engineer with approximately 6+ years' software/platform engineering experience and a strong background in Linux and networking environments.

Key experience

• Strong commercial development experience with Golang (Go)
• Excellent knowledge of Linux-based platforms
• Hands-on experience with Ansible and infrastructure automation
• Good understanding of networking and network management
• Knowledge of VRRP / high-availability networking
• Experience building distributed, scalable and resilient systems
• Strong understanding of software architecture and system design
• Ability to troubleshoot complex platform and infrastructure problems

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly available platform services using Golang
• Work across Linux, networking and infrastructure automation
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of large-scale distributed platforms
• Design systems with scalability, resilience, security and reliability in mind
• Work closely with Software Engineering, Product, Network and Application teams
• Participate in technical design reviews and architectural decision-making
• Evaluate new technologies and develop proof-of-concepts where appropriate
• Help define technical standards and engineering best practices across the platform

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with Edge Computing / Edge platforms
• Strong knowledge of high-availability network architectures
• Experience with APIs, data contracts and versioning strategies
• Knowledge of LLMs or agentic AI, including agents, tool usage and stateful workflows
• Previous experience within telecommunications, networking, cloud infrastructure or large-scale platform environments.
