VP, Business Development and Licensing

In This Role, You Will

• Lead business development and licensing for Recursion’s portfolio of first-in-class and best-in-class molecules.
• Build enduring relationships with senior BD/licensing counterparts at pharma and biotech.
• Identify value-maximizing development/commercialization partners for existing clinical and preclinical assets.
• With search/evaluation and cross-functional leads, identify, prioritize, and diligence in-licensing and asset acquisition opportunities in oncology and I&I.
• Structure, negotiate, and execute licensing, acquisition, co-development/co-commercialization, and spin-out agreements.
• Consolidate industry feedback and advise internal teams on critical data-package deliverables.
• Represent Recursion’s platform and acquisition strategy to senior scientific and business leaders.

The Experience You’ll Need

• BS/BA in life sciences (biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medical).
• Advanced degree (JD, MBA, PhD, PharmD) strongly preferred.
• 12–15+ years in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, focused on oncology and I&I.
• 7+ years direct business development and licensing experience (buy-side and sell-side).
• Strong network of senior relationships across biotech and large pharma.
• Deep knowledge of drug development from early discovery through commercialization.
• Track record leading complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations and closing high-value transactions.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently.
• Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Demonstrated interest in AI-enabled drug discovery.

Working Location & Compensation

• Office-based role in New York City; remote flexibility; travel every 4–6 weeks.
• Estimated annual base salary: $336,380–$404,140, plus annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits package.
