Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Business Development Manager at NZ Essentials. The Business Development Manager will identify and qualify new business opportunities, build and maintain strong relationships with New Zealand businesses, and promote NZ Essentials’ energy brokerage and One NZ telecommunications solutions.
The role involves managing the sales pipeline, conducting needs assessments, preparing proposals, and negotiating contracts with prospective and existing clients. The Business Development Manager will collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding, monitor client satisfaction, and support account growth. The position also includes market research, reporting on sales performance, and contributing to business development strategies to expand NZ Essentials’ presence across key sectors.
Qualifications
- Business development and sales skills, including lead generation, pipeline management, and contract negotiation.
- Client relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, understand business needs, and provide ongoing account support.
- Knowledge of, or strong interest in, the New Zealand energy sector and telecommunications services, including electricity procurement and business connectivity solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex offerings in clear, business-focused language.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess pricing options, optimize cost savings, and support data-driven recommendations.
- Self-motivation and time management skills suited to remote work, including the ability to work independently and meet targets.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and basic office software (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations, word processing) for sales tracking and reporting.
- Relevant experience in B2B sales, account management, or consulting; experience in energy, utilities, or telecommunications is an advantage.
- Post-secondary education in business, commerce, marketing, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
