Job Description
We are currently hiring an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join a leading engineering and infrastructure contractor based in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a background in structural steel fabrication, bridges, heavy steelwork or infrastructure projects to join an established work-winning team delivering major projects across Ireland and the UK.

The Role:
Working as part of the estimating and work-winning team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for structural steel packages across a range of infrastructure and energy projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing detailed and accurate estimates for structural steel packages.
Reviewing tender drawings, specifications and contract documentation to establish the full scope of works.
Completing material take-offs and preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
Producing enquiry packages and schedules for suppliers and subcontractors.
Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Identifying commercial and technical risks within tender documentation.
Attending tender start-up, mid-bid and adjudication meetings.
Carrying out site visits where required to assess project requirements.
Working closely with engineering, commercial, procurement and construction teams throughout the tender process.
Supporting the preparation and submission of competitive tenders within agreed deadlines.
Maintaining accurate estimating records and supporting tender handovers following successful awards.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in structural steel estimating or a closely related estimating position.
Experience within structural steel fabrication, bridges, heavy engineering, civil infrastructure or major construction projects is highly desirable.
Strong ability to interpret structural drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
Experience completing quantity take-offs and preparing BOQs.
Good understanding of steel fabrication and erection methodologies.
Experience obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to demanding submission deadlines.
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
