About the role
As a Senior Accountant in the Private Business & Family Advisory team, you will play a critical role in delivering a wide range of business services to a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and complex business groups.
Reporting to the Manager, this opportunity will see you providing real value-added support across accounting, tax and advisory work for a diverse client base.
The role combines technical competence with commercial acumen. You will be hands-on in the preparation of financial statements, tax returns and activity statements, while also contributing to the development of the team by supporting, coaching and mentoring junior staff.
Key responsibilities
- Preparation of financial statements, activity statements and tax returns for all entity types and individuals, including trusts and corporate entities
- Identifying and managing tax issues such as Division 7A loans, fringe benefits tax, CGT events, SBE and depreciation concessions
- Undertaking periodic management reporting, budgeting and forecasting on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis
- Participating and contributing to tax and accounting planning and forecasting meetings for clients
- Supporting the management of a portfolio of complex and non-complex engagements to ensure they are completed in a timely manner
- Reviewing the work of junior staff for accuracy and recommending improvements to their accounting assignments
- Coaching and mentoring junior team members and supporting their development
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, procedures and processes
About you
CA or CPA qualification held, or close to completion
3-5 years' experience in a similar accounting or professional services role
Ability to prepare financial statements and tax returns for multiple and complex entities, including various trusts and corporate entities
Ability to undertake tax planning recommendations for clients
Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Now Infinity, Practice Ignition or Greatsoft
Superior written and oral communication skills
Strong numeracy and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and make sense of data
Strong time management skills with the ability to be agile with changing priorities and deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Ability to coach, mentor and lead junior staff
