Role Description The Event Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering events that support the Free Speech Union’s mission, including panel discussions, member meetings, workshops, and public forums. This is a hybrid role with many events taking place in London, but also across the UK, with a mix of on-site event work and work from home for planning, coordination, and administration. Day-to-day tasks include developing event concepts, managing timelines and logistics, coordinating venues and suppliers, arranging speakers and guests, and handling registrations and ticketing.

The role also involves managing budgets, preparing event materials, overseeing on-the-day operations, and ensuring a high-quality experience for attendees. The Event Coordinator will collaborate with internal teams on promotion, member communications, and post-event feedback to improve future events.


Qualifications

  • Strong event planning and event management skills, including experience coordinating multiple events and timelines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities to engage members, speakers, partners, and vendors professionally.
  • Sales or outreach experience, particularly in promoting events, driving attendance, and building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage budgets and logistical arrangements.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid environment, with the ability to attend events and meetings in the across the UK and work effectively from home.
  • Proficiency with standard office and event management tools (e.g., email marketing platforms, online ticketing systems, spreadsheets etc).
  • Experience in membership organizations, non-profits, or advocacy groups is beneficial, as is an interest in issues related to free speech and public debate.
  • Relevant education or training in event management, communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
