Job Description

About Us:

Our client is one of Ireland’s leading commercial, industrial, and high-density residential HVAC systems providers. They supply heating and cooling products and systems to the building services market via HVAC Contractors and Consultancy Practises, adding value with their in house product specialists and engineers. They have the ability to supply a full project package from capital plant equipment to the distribution pipework.

Our client is the only company in Ireland that can offer this total project capability under one roof and has been at the forefront of new technologies and trends for many years.

The Role:

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading the sales office and trade counter operations at the Santry branch, with a strong focus on delivering sustainable, profitable growth and effective day-to-day management. The role plays a key part in supporting both established and newer product ranges, maintaining focus on the right customer segments, and evolving sales practices to support the future needs of the business. Working closely with Business Development Managers (BDMs), Supply Chain Team, Product Managers and the Commercial Director, the Sales Manager ensures alignment on stock availability, product priorities and customer requirements.

The role also collaborates with Head Office teams to support centrally managed customer sites and promote a consistent, joined-up commercial approach across the wider business.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be a practical, commercially focused sales leader with experience managing both trade counter and internal sales environments. They will bring a hands-on management style, a clear understanding of commercial drivers, and the ability to prioritise effort where it delivers the greatest return. The Sales Manager will be comfortable working cross-functionally, able to challenge existing ways of working constructively, and confident in using data and systems to inform decision‑making.

A straightforward communication style, strong organisational skills and a customer‑focused mindset are essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the company values at all times.
  • Lead, manage and support the sales office and trade counter teams.
  • Deliver branch sales and margin targets, driving sustainable internal sales growth.
  • Maintain simple, consistent sales routines, including quotation follow‑up and order management.
  • Work closely with BDMs to ensure customers receive a consistent and coordinated sales approach.
  • Build strong working relationships with Purchasing, Product Managers, the Commercial Director and Head Office teams.
  • Manage and develop long‑standing customer relationships while identifying and progressing new opportunities across Air Conditioning, Facilities Management and emerging product ranges.
  • Leverage the Santry branch’s location and facilities to enhance customer service and trade counter activity.
  • Ensure the team has a strong understanding of core and priority product ranges, particularly newer and opportunity‑led products.
  • Improve daily stock availability and work with Purchasing to reduce aged or slow‑moving stock.
  • Encourage consistent and effective use of ERP, CRM and Phocas as standard business tools.
  • Use branch performance data to identify early risks relating to margin, stock levels or customer buying behaviour.
  • Balance time and resource allocation between high‑value and lower‑value customers to ensure commercial effort aligns with return.
  • Review, tidy and document branch sales processes to reduce reliance on Head Office intervention.
  • Work closely with the Customer Experience Manager to maintain high service standards across the branch.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a sales team within a technical, wholesale or distribution environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with a solid understanding of margins, pricing and sales performance metrics.
  • Proven experience managing both trade counter and office‑based sales teams.
  • Strong product knowledge in HVAC or mechanical products would be an advantage, or a demonstrated ability to learn technical product ranges quickly.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Clear, practical and professional communication style.
  • High level of competence using Microsoft Office, ERP systems, CRM tools and Phocas dashboards.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with Head Office and cross‑functional teams.
  • Professional level of English, both written and oral.
  • The right to live and work in ROI on a permanent basis.

What we offer:

  • Competitive Salary (DOE).
  • Annual bonus scheme.
