Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Wine Sales Executive to manage and grow a diverse Sydney territory across the hospitality and independent retail sectors.

We are looking for a commercially driven wine professional who enjoys being out in the market, building genuine customer relationships and developing new business. This is a role with a high degree of autonomy, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your territory and be directly rewarded for its growth.

The Territory

The territory includes North Sydney & Northern Beaches; Parramatta & Western Suburb; Sutherland Shire & Southern Suburbs; Part of Sydney CBD and Part of the Eastern Suburbs.

With a broad mix of established and prospective customers, there is genuine opportunity to strengthen existing business, open new accounts and further develop the territory.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing existing customer relationships while actively identifying and converting new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and growing an existing portfolio of customers
  • Developing new hospitality and independent retail accounts
  • Building strong relationships with key industry decision-makers
  • Presenting and promoting a quality wine portfolio
  • Conducting tastings, product presentations and staff education
  • Identifying opportunities to increase ranging, sales and customer spend
  • Achieving agreed sales, margin and growth objectives
  • Planning and managing an effective customer call cycle
  • Attending selected wine dinners, tastings and trade events
  • Maintaining accurate customer and sales activity records

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 4 years' wine sales experience or closely related beverage industry experience
  • Strong wine knowledge and a genuine interest in the industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing and growing a sales territory
  • Established relationships within Sydney's hospitality and/or independent retail market
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Good commercial understanding of pricing and margins
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage your time effectively and take ownership of results
  • A current driver's licence

Formal wine qualifications such as WSET will be well regarded but are not essential where strong industry experience and knowledge can be demonstrated.

What's On Offer

The position offers a base salary of $80,000โ€“$95,000, depending on experience, plus superannuation, a lucrative commission structure and generous car allowance, together with a company laptop and mobile phone.

Importantly, the commission structure provides genuine earning potential for a successful salesperson. As you develop new accounts, strengthen existing customer relationships and grow the territory, you have the opportunity to increase your overall earnings.

This is not simply about making sales. We are looking for someone who wants to develop long-term relationships with customers, understand their businesses and become a trusted partner. You will have the autonomy to manage your territory, plan your customer activity and pursue opportunities while having the support and tools required to perform.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position, primarily Monday to Friday, with a high degree of autonomy. Regular travel throughout the designated Sydney territory is an important part of the role.

As is typical within the wine industry, there will also be occasional evening attendance at wine tastings, wine dinners and trade events, together with selected industry functions.

For an experienced wine sales professional looking for a strong Sydney territory, genuine autonomy and the opportunity to be financially rewarded for the business they build, this is an excellent opportunity to take the next step.
