Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a passionate, organized, and hands-on Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily back-of-house operations, assist with administrative operations, and help lead our culinary team to success. The ideal candidate will come with years of Kitchen Management experience, and a passion for hospitality and the guest experience.

Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen and service by maintaining exceptional food quality, developing team members, controlling costs, and upholding all health and safety standards. This leader works closely with the senior chef and General Manager to deliver operational excellence while fostering a positive and accountable kitchen culture.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all daily kitchen operations.
• Supervise, coach, train, and motivate all back-of-house team members.
• Ensure consistent execution of recipes, food quality, presentation, and portion standards.
• Maintain inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor relationships.
• Oversee food cost, labor cost, and kitchen expenses while maximizing efficiency.
• Create staff schedules based on business demands.
• Ensure compliance with all NYC Department of Health regulations, food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
• Monitor equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs when necessary.
• Partner with the Executive Chef on menu execution, staffing, and operational improvements.
• Assist in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and developing kitchen employees.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Lead by example during high-volume service while maintaining a calm, professional presence.

 

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of kitchen management or culinary leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant.
• Strong understanding of Italian cuisine preferred.
• Proven experience managing food and labor costs.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with inventory management and purchasing.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate or ServSafe Certification preferred.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
