About the Role:

Reporting to the Branch General Manager (with a dotted line to the National Engineering Manager), the Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end engineering function at our Wollongong site, supporting the commissioning and ongoing optimisation of a highly automated production facility.

This role will play a critical part in transitioning the site from commissioning through to stable, high-performing operations, ensuring system reliability, improving automation capability, and leading a high-performing engineering team.

Key Responsiblities are:
  • Lead commissioning, handover, and optimisation of plant and automated systems
  • Drive equipment performance, uptime, and system reliability
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and fault-finding across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
  • Deliver automation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencyLead capital projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
  • Build and develop a high-performing engineering team
  • Manage contractors and ensure compliance with WHS and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain safe, compliant operations and high standards of housekeeping (5S)
Key skills and Experience required:
  • Trade or tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Strong experience in automated or industrial production environments
  • Proven background in commissioning, maintenance leadership, or plant optimisation
  • Demonstrated ability to improve system reliability and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across integrated mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Experience delivering capital projects and managing contractors
  • Working knowledge of WHS, Australian standards, and Lean/TPM methodologies
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to build team capability and performance
