Job DescriptionFinancial Accountant Payables & Financial Support Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract Location: Clontarf, Dublin Working Model: On-site / Hybrid Salary: €54,334 €66,892 DOE We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join the Finance team of a large, complex not-for-profit organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a broad, hands-on position with responsibility for leading the Accounts Payable function, strengthening financial controls and providing high-quality financial accounting and business partnering support. Managing two Accounts Payable team members, the successful candidate will be a qualified accountant who can quickly take ownership of key processes and drive continuous improvement across finance.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, expenses and payment runs. Manage and support two Accounts Payable team members. Maintain robust financial controls, authorisation processes and segregation of duties.
Support month-end and year-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations. Assist with monthly management accounts, variance analysis and financial reporting. Support annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
Partner with budget holders, providing financial analysis and guidance to support decision-making and cost control. Manage VAT compliance and preparation of VAT returns. Prepare financial returns, grant claims and reports for funders, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation. Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, systems and automation. Requirements: Fully qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
Significant relevant post-qualification experience. Previous experience managing an Accounts Payable function and associated financial controls. Strong people management and leadership experience.
Proven experience preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts. Strong technical accounting knowledge, including VAT compliance. Advanced Excel skills and experience using integrated financial systems.
Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to challenging deadlines. Experience within a large or complex organisation is highly desirable; not-for-profit, healthcare, charity or public sector experience would be advantageous.
